I recently attended Greenies CyberCouture 2010: The Future is Now show put on by Rezzable and Avenue at Greenies (one of my favorite places in SL). The fashions shown were not my usual style; in fact, they were styles more commonly described by some of my favorite science fiction and fantasy authors. Some of them took me out of my comfort zone; others piqued my interest, and I thought I just might like to try those on. Vendors were available at the show site, but I admit that I had spent all of my funds on the Haiti relief efforts, so I wasn’t able to purchase anything.
Poor me—hah! Years ago I learned when I feel sorry for myself over something I can’t have, to be grateful for the things I don’t have that I don’t want. For example, I don’t have a house turned to rubble by an earthquake. I don’t have a leg broken when the earthquake hit and the house fell. I don’t have an empty cup or bowl because I don’t have food or water to put in them. I don’t have a family killed in the earthquake. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Believe me, I did not feel sorry for myself for more time than it took for me to put the lack in perspective.

Things have a way of working out. When the skin designer Ayesha Bislani from Skin Within asked bloggers in a group I belong to if they were interested in reviewing her skins, I knew just what she was talking about, and I jumped at the chance. I love these skins. They are definitely not my usual, and I won’t wear them every day, but when I need something really different, I will be tickled to pull one of these beauties out. I love the blue tint of the photo-realistic skin above, Droe Exotica. The artistic details are terrific–from the striking facial makeup to the blue toenails that match the blue fingernails. There are details that have a definite tattooed appearance as well as some 3D effects like the blue nipples. The vendors are still there, if you want the skins, you will find them only at that site right now.

Yellow skin is not something I ever thought I would find appealing, but this is really something special. The details here go beyond a tattoo look because they look three-dimensional. It gives the skin more of an appliqued look than a tattooed look. I enjoyed photographing both of them, but I had a hard time stopping myself from taking more and more pictures of this skin. Each pose gave a different look at the details. Even now, while I glance up or down as I’m writing this, my eyes are drawn to the exquisite details. This is an amazing skin.

This is indeed a marvelous skin and it fits the body well, but I was curious to see how the skin would look on my own body. I’ve compared the two below. (Click on the image for a larger view.) I was pleased with the way the skin fit, so I know that if I want to be taller and thinner than Ms. Bislani intended, I can wear my own body, however, the body that comes with the skin is very well proportioned and is curvy in all the right places without being conspicuously top heavy.
I love these skins, bodies, and the eyes that complement them. I’m going to be looking for places to wear them. I’ll be looking for exactly the right clothing that will show off the details while maintaining my sense of propriety. If you see someone blue or yellow walking around, look closely, it just might be me.
