Rissa Friller knows all about styling challenges. She won the FineSmith Styling Challenge last fall to become Ms. Stylista. I’ve also seen Markski Glom and his exceptional styling at his graduation from Maniera Institute of Style where he wore two different looks from the Visual Kei genre–quite a styling challenge. I mention Rissa and Markski because they put their heads together to come up with the latest styling challenge from FineSmith Designs–Style That.

Style That is for avis who are great at styling but who may or may not be good on the runway. You DO NOT have to walk on a runway and select apropriate poses. You DO have to style in a hurry because there is a 2-hour time limit.

It starts Tuesday, March 22, at 9:00 a.m. SLT. Be there sometime between 9:00 – 9:20 a.m. SLT to pick up your FREE item to be styled. That’s right, you style around a FREE piece of FineSmith jewelry. Yula Finesmith brought out some new bracelets for 55L Thursday. These are great for both male and female avis. I’ve donned all three bracelets to create a punk look. (I use Kirstens Viewer, based on V2, so I can attach more than on item at each attachment point, so two bracelets are attached to my forearm and I the third bracelet is attached to my upper arm and is rotated.)

Never thought I’d like punk, but it’s a bit freeing to wear something in virtual space that I’d never wear in real. For 24 hours, starting March 17 at 10:00 a.m. SLT, each bracelet is on sale for only 55L. What a deal! Here is your taxi to the store.

HELP Tempest Ella

[PROMISE ME] Skins, Shape, Lorrey (205, 162, 31)

Tempest is a resident of Christchurch New Zealand, and she has survived the recent Earthquake which struck there, Monday the 21st of February GMT.
She is safe, and she is unharmed, as is her family.
However, the Earthquake, has unfortunately destroyed her house, and everything inside it; causing her to lose everything she owns.   She managed to grab only what she could carry and left the rest behind…
Now.. Temp is a friend on mine in SL, and a good hearted person. There are many of us coming together and helping, trying to raise money for her and her family in this time of need. So.. right now in the store… PROMISE ME… there are 4 (four) skins that are marked down half off… YES HALF (1/2) off.. and will be this way only until tomorrow… so please come in and look around and give a little to someone that lost everything.  All the money that is raised on the skins will be given to Tempest just like the others have done that are helping her..

Promise

I have watched with dismay the destruction of parts of New Zealand and was happy to help earlier by going to at least one other fundraiser, so I stopped by Promise Me to see the skins. Unfortunately, the fatpack I bought is only on sale for 1/2 price through this evening (Tuesday), but others will be on sale through Wednesday and others still longer.

I’m so far behind blogging about Yula Finesmith’s new designs that this one is no longer new. Of course, that’s not saying a whole lot because I’m slow at blogging and she is amazingly fast at designing. I’m on spring break this week, so maybe I can begin to catch up a bit.

The delicate strands of metal that span the length or breadth of these designs make them appear to be very fragile, but I assure you, they can withstand any of those tried-and-true chllenges that used to be met by that well known brand of inexpensive watches. Some of you are old enough to remember hearing the TV announcer say, “They take a licking and keep on ticking.” Well, these don’t tick, but you could have a SL elephant stand on one and these pieces would hold their shape. You can pick it up and put it back on and no one will ever know a pachyderm had stood on it–they simply look too Fragile.
