The Fashion For Life vendor item for this look came from G Field, the Empire Dress Olivia in Berry. The dress has two sleeve options and it comes with two options of flowers for the hair. But I really wanted to show you the cloche from Xen’s Hats, in a vendor at FFL. Also from the fair but not in FFL vendor are the G Field shoes. I bought the metallic fatpack to go with the fatpack I already had.

While you are at the fair, please take time to appreciate the builds. The builders put in a lot of time and effort to design great sims. I’m in the sim sponsored by Sonatta Morales. If you have never played with the environmental settings, play around with them. Even if you just select settings that are already available, do a moment or two to do it. You will be amazed at the different effects. The photo above is from one setting and the one below is from another. I’m sorry that I have no idea which settings these are.

This is my first year for Xen’s Hats to have a shop at Fashion for Life. It’s really important to me to be a part of the extensive SL effort to raise money to fight cancer. The first time cancer touched my life, I was just a teenager when my younger cousin had his leg amputated. That was more than 40 years ago. Since that time, my paternal grandmother had breast cancer that eventually metastasized to her brain and killed her. Both of her sons (my cousin’s father and then my own) battled cancer and lost—my uncle from lung cancer and my father from testicular cancer and then pancreatic cancer. My father-in-law lost his battle with esophageal cancer that metastasized to his lungs. My younger sister developed cancer in a muscle in her back that eventually metastasized to her lungs—she was only 45 when she died. I’ve also had many friends who have had cancer, some who won and others who lost their battles. So, yes, cancer has touched my life many times. It’s a disease that I hate because it’s taken so many from me.

I’ve been through most of the FFL sims, and I’ve seen many more items I’d like to have than I can afford. I’ve purchased several that I will share with you. Go, buy all you can, especially from the FFL vendors—100% from those vendors goes to the American Cancer Society. The three items purchased at FFL all came from the Sonatta Morales sim.

blackLiquid Tokyoska has come out with a set of limited edition makeups that will suit anyone who loves or needs a bit of green makeup perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. You can select the eye shadow and lipstick separately, and each color has both striped and duo, so you can take your pick.

Yula Finesmith has gone Organic. The style of this jewelry is bold and yet has a classic feel to it. I know this is going to become a favorite style of mine. I got them all, so I know I’ll have the color I need when I need it. This is the copper set, copper is one of my favorite colors for jewelry.

I’m showing this jewelry off with lots of other new things. First, this great hair by Dura. I like the little bit of messiness and the covered eye. Small earrings would be hidden, but these lovely, large ladies are perfect for this hair.

The skin is from the new Lily skin coming out from Belleza. Tricky Boucher, the designer, put out two versions at the Whore Couture Fair and I snapped them both up. This is the basic skin with no additional makeup. I think I could get used to this skin very easily. I usually use another Belleza skin, Erika in one of three skin tones, for my every day skin.

The dress I’m wearing is a mesh dress from Ladies Who Lunch. You can wear both layers at the same time and you get an interest sheen that just one doesn’t give you.  I’m also wearing more than one layer under it. It was still a bit daring for me, so I added tights. Yes, I’m an old lady, I like to wear pantyhose or tights; I think they look dressier than bare legs.

I don’t think the poses are new, but I like them a lot. They are all from aDORKable. The one on the left right shows you how sheer the dress is even with both mesh prims on.

I was just piddling around a couple of weeks ago and stumbled upon a place called Piddler’s Perch. It’s so unusual to see the word “piddler” used these days that I knew immediately I had found a kindred soul. (BTW, “piddle” means to squander or spend time aimlessly.) I was piddling around when I made this hat. I liked it so much, I kept it, but I haven’t put it in my shop yet—sorry.

I popped over to the store and piddled away a bit more of my time looking over what was there. I found this great window seat that really appealed to me, so I snapped it up. It’s quite comfy with the pillows and throw, and it’s already accessorized so I don’t have to do that.

While I was at Piddler’s Perch, I clicked on a piece to see who the maker was and then looked to see who was hearby. Sure enough, Rowan Attis was in the area piddling around. I IMd her and we talked for awhile and learned we had similar personalities. I was a pleasant time piddling around talking with her.

Unfortunately, I was wearing this cute outfit and I wanted to wear it for the photos. Some things just don’t work with some poses. This outfit is one, but it was only a problem in this first photo. However, the pose looks so cute, I wanted to include it even if my hand is through my jumper.

I had to chuckle at this photo. I do wear these boots often but not often enough to wear a hole through the sole. Yes, I know I could have mended this in Photoshop, but it looked so funny that I had to leave it as is.

After a bit of daydreaming, I found a book. I love to read, another good way to while away the time. I wish it had been one of my books by my favorite RL author Nathan Lowell. Well, a trip to Amazon will solve that.

I enjoyed my time at the EPOCH event; there was so much to see. When I saw this dress and leggings/shoes from Maitreya, I knew it would be perfect with this great skin that I had recently gotten from Aleida. The hair from Iruco, although designed for men, was too good to pass up. (I did add a hairbase because the hair appeared to be shaved in the back and I really don’t care for that look on me.) I added some of my favorite FineSmith jewelry to complete the look.

While at the event, I bought this funny walk AO by Body Language, so went to Body Language to see what else they had. I found some interesting, somewhat dramatic poses that I needed to add to my vast inventory of poses. (I’m pretty sure I have more poses than I have pieces of FineSmith jewelry, and that’s saying A LOT!) Some of them I couldn’t use on a runway, but since I control my photography and I what I want to see in my own blog, I can use any poses I like.

I’m endlessly fascinated with Yula Finesmith’s creations. The woman never bores me with her designs. An example of her creativity is her newest release Organic that comes in 10 different colors. I’m wearing the Organic necklace, earrings, and both rings in Gold. I love the bold styles and her choices of colors. You can see all of the color choices she used at her Flickr page.

My hair is one of the newest from Dura.  It’s an updo held up with a single stick in the back. Interestingly, it’s a boy’s hairdo. I’ve never seen a guy wear a hairdo like this, but I’ve seen women with similar hair. I’m glad I have no hesitation trying every hair chiaki Xue designs.

To show off the jewelry, I chose an elegant mesh gown called Emily from JANE. It’s the type of gown I would wear in real life—well, in real I’d want straps or super glue. I love the rich red color—I really have to be careful or I’d fill my inventory with red.

Finally, I’m showing you some limited edition poses from Epiphany. I chose the four poses that are animated. In the photos I’ve shown you the position the poses start with on the left and the position the poses end in on the right. I like that the designer also gives you the beginning and ending poses as static poses in the same folder that the animated pose is in. The only thing I’m not thrilled with is the shoulder position in some of the poses. I do not like the shoulders in the first poses—the shoulders seem to be lost in traslation.

When Maniera asked for models to walk with their recent graduates, I was thrilled to volunteer. Maniera Institute of Style is well known for teaching styling. They do in depth teaching of a genre for each class of models. What is really great is that once you graduate from the school, you can go back to sit in on classes for no additional cost. The most recent graduating class learned about the various subcategories of Goth. I modeled two of them in the show—European Goth and American Goth. I was tickled when Agnes Finney dropped me a copy of her newest dress and her newest eyes. I also received a fatpack of the newest Dura hairs from chiaki Xue. I popped them all on (well, just one pair of eyes) along with the new Sophie skin I purchased from Exodi and one of my own hats recolored to compliment the dress.

When I was all set, I teleported over to the EPOCH Legend Event going on  until February 11 and bought way too much stuff that I will have to show in later posts. The event is spread over three with three different themes. I recommend going over even if you don’t want to shop, there is a lot worth seeing.

I had an interesting time wandering around Forgotten City. It’s a very interesting build. I found an elevator that took me to the JD Mechanical Toy Factory where I found a very interesting windup cat. I considered that he was very large for a cat, at least for a house cat. I wondered if he might terrify my own RL cats or whether at least one of them might ride him around the house or whether they might just use him as a scratching post.

I found a fascinating build of a table top train layout with at least two trains that moved around spewing smoke. It was wonderfully realistic for those of you who are model train buffs.

After all that wandering around, I sat at the bar and pondered what I might like to drink while two mechanical couples danced in place. This is a place I really do want to come back to. There is a lot I haven’t seen yet.

When I left the toy store, I took a tp that was supposed to take me to a sausage stand. I never did find that stand even though there were arrows pointing the way. I really don’t know if I missed an arrow or two, walked right by the stand without seeing it, or got distracted before I got to the stand. (The second time I visited because I forgot to get LMs the first time, I saw the stand and wondered how I had missed it the first time.)

In any case, I found a great double, curving staircase that I couldn’t resist posing on. It was such a lovely setting with snow and trees off to the side.

I really did want you to see this new dress from Agnes. It’s lovely black lace with a black lace and panties beneath. I suppose those could be omitted for those of you who are more daring. The dress is topped with a long-sleeved shrug that I needed with all of that snow to close by.

By the way, the second time I visited, I climbed the stairs all the way to the top and found an enchanting dance hall filled with mechanical dancing couples.

Then I turned around and saw a breath-taking view of the build 1500 M in the sky. Go, take a look for yourself.
